Newborn Photography FAQs

When is the best time to book a newborn photoshoot?

I recommend booking your newborn photography session during pregnancy to ensure I can reserve a spot around your due date. As a specialist newborn photographer in Amsterdam, I photograph a limited number of newborns each month to allow flexibility around each baby's arrival. You don't need to know the exact date in advance; we can plan everything around your due date.

When should we schedule the newborn session after birth?

The ideal time for a newborn photoshoot is between 10 days and 3 weeks after birth. During this period, babies are often still very sleepy and naturally curl into those beautiful newborn poses. Sessions can also be attempted when your baby is older, but they may be more awake and less likely to sleep throughout the session. This simply means we may need to adapt the session to your baby's needs and natural behaviour.

What should I do once my baby is born?

Simply send me a message as soon as your baby arrives! There is no need to schedule an exact date beforehand. Once I know your baby has arrived, I can reserve a suitable spot for you in the following weeks. This flexible approach allows us to plan around your baby's actual arrival rather than worrying about your due date changing.

What happens if my baby arrives earlier or later than expected?

No problem at all! Babies arrive on their own schedule, and I completely understand that due dates are only estimates. I plan newborn bookings with this flexibility in mind, so whether your little one arrives early or decides to take their time, we can work together to find a suitable date for your session.

Is your studio equipped for newborn photography?

Yes! My dedicated photography studio in Amsterdam is equipped for newborn sessions, with a selection of wraps, blankets, props and accessories to create beautiful, timeless portraits. I have been specialising in newborn, maternity and family photography since 2014, so you can feel confident that your baby is in experienced hands. Your baby's comfort and safety always come first, and we take our time for feeding, cuddles and settling whenever needed.

What should parents and siblings wear for the newborn session?

I recommend simple, coordinated clothing in soft, neutral colours such as cream, beige, white, taupe and soft grey. Avoid large logos, strong patterns and very bright colours, as these can distract from the connection between you and your baby. You don't need to buy a whole new wardrobe; the most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable. Before your session, I can guide you on clothing choices so that your family looks harmonious in the final photographs.

How many photographs and products are included in the newborn package?

My newborn photography package includes 10–12 carefully edited digital photographs and a beautiful 20 × 20 cm luxury album. I believe these precious first memories deserve to be enjoyed both digitally and in print, which is why I include a professionally printed album in my package. After viewing your gallery, you can also purchase additional photographs if there are more images you would love to keep.

Can parents and siblings be included in the newborn photoshoot?

Absolutely! Your newborn session can include photographs of your baby on their own, as well as beautiful portraits with parents and siblings. These early days are about the whole family welcoming a new member, and I love creating a collection that captures both the tiny details of your baby and the connection you share as a family.

How long does a newborn photography session take?

Newborn photography takes time and patience. I allow plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddling and settling your baby, so there is no need to feel rushed. Every baby is different, and I adapt the pace of the session to suit your little one. My aim is to create a relaxed experience for the whole family while capturing beautiful, timeless photographs.
